Finesse or trick worms are dynamite for catching black bass. Any style will work, or you can purchase the newly manufactured Wacky Style Worm. I prefer the trick or finesse type worms over the brand name wacky worm. Manufactures (Zoom, Kicker Fish, Strike King, Berkley, Kinami Baits, etc.)
I prefer using a # 2 weed less Ultra Point Hook made by Mustad. This hook has a 1/32 oz. weight attached to the hook, just before the belly of the hook. Any weed less hook can be used, if the Mustad hooks cannot be purchased. Just add a very small amount of the putty type weight material. Eagle Claw and Gamakatsu, make a weighted weed less hook, but the weight is at the top of the hook below the eye.
Rigging:
1) Insert the weed less hook through the worm, about the center of the overall length of the worm. There should be a small change in the body size of the bait there and then it goes back to the original body size.
2) On the brand name wacky worm insert the hook through the extended portion of the worm.
3) Make sure that the tiny metal strips are not in contact with the worm or bent.
Method:
1) Pitch or cast the worm into the desired area. The worm will eliminate hang-ups. Again a slow retrieve, with long pauses is suggested, allowing the worm to fall. As it is retrieved the ends will close and then release during the pause. It can be fished in hydrilla, moss, pads, lay-downs, standing timber, rocks or brush
2) As with any bait match the color to the water clarity and weather conditions. Always keep a tight line and get a good hook set.

I hope this will help you catch more bass and enjoy using the bait as I do. This is an great bait for kids to use on spinning rods. Until the next time, have a good day and great fishing.
